WATERMARK CONFERENCE-2017: TO KNOW THE TENDENCIES OF TOMORROW
According to a tradition formed in 12 years, once every two years one of the Russian cities welcomes the guests of Watermark Conference; among them, there are leading specialists of the security product field, national banks and public services as well as experts in the security field from all over the world. SECRETS OF A NEW SUBSTRATE FOR RUSSIAN BANKNOTES REVEALED
The fact that Goznak developed a certain banknote solution based on polymer substrate has been known for about a year already – the image of a demonstration banknote briefly appeared in different presentations, but the Russian manufacturer has given no comments so far. A full-scale presentation took place here at Watermark Conference 2017; Alexander Mochalov, a line manager of the Directorate of New Product Development of Goznak, held it. It turned out to be about not just another – third in the world practice after Guardian by CCL and Safeguard by De La Rue – polymer substrate, but about a unique complex security solution.
CONCLUDING REMARKS ON CASH CYCLE CONFERENCE IN SUZDAL
President of the Rosinkas Association Oleg Krylov referred to the 3rd International conference «Current Issues of Cash Circulation», held in Suzdal, as the best venue for discussions on existing challenges for the industry and a joint work on finding solutions to face them. In the previous issue we gave a detailed insight on presentations made at the forum, staged by the Cash Circulation, Cash-in-Transit and Value Transportation Association, the Association of Russian Banks and the Association «Russia». This issue draws a line under the story about the event that brought together over 200 Russian and foreign delegates.

Despite the fact that each year the volume of issued cards, as well as cashless payment transactions, are increasing in Russia, the population –both individuals and legal entities – prefers, by and large, use them as a mechanism for cash withdrawals, instead of doing online shopping or enjoying other services. At the same time, cash and non-cash payments are at opposite sides in terms of transactions by value, says the recent survey conducted by the National Payment Council «Payment cards in Russian regions: 2011-2016». The association was established by banking and financial institutions under the aegis of the Bank of Russia.
